Visit to Bourton on the Water – 30 October 2013

At the end of half term, we took Mum out for a visit to Bourton on the Water.

We began by driving to the Little Chef at Burford for lunch.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be less than satisfying with various issues both with the food and also the staff.  It’s disappointing that while Little Chef is generally improving, there are clearly still a few issues to be resolved.

We drove on to Bourton and enjoyed wandering around the village and shops in the autumn sunshine.

Eventually, it was time for tea.

Bourton is full of tea rooms and places to eat and we ended up at the excellent Chestnut Tree.

With a friendly atmosphere and delicious food, the only disappointment was when they forgot my coffee cake in the order.

When it did arrive, it was so big that I was more than happy to forget the incident.

We would certainly return to eat there again on a future visit to Bourton.

We had a great day in Bourton and could easily have spent longer there.

Next time, we look forward to visiting Birdland, where the girls want to see the penguins and owls.
