Forty-six year old Christian happily negotiating the world with a wife and three daughters
It hardly seems like two years since we were up watching Rebekah at her school sports day.
To @HollyIBray's Sports Day!

This time it was Holly’s turn to take to the field and we duly joined the masses of other parents and hangers-on who were eager to watch their sons and daughters taking part.
All the classes at the Infant school took part and worked their way around nine different activities which had been set out around the field. The classes stayed together and the parents followed their specific child’s class around in order to see all the different events.
The logistics for moving everyone on after each event was undertaken by the head teacher, Mrs Clementson, whose stentorian tones came across the crackly tannoy system after each event, accompanied by suitably rousing music.
I managed to get a few photos of Holly during the activities:
Sports Day over. Good turnout of parents and associated hangers-on. Managed a few photos of @HollyIBray concentrating with her tongue out!

Things have been growing fast in the vegetable plot this year – including the weeds!
We now have carrots, potatoes, peas and runner beans advancing quickly as well as rhubarb and the gooseberry and raspberry bushes.
Today, Sarah and Rebekah took the opportunity to dodge the showers and plant some more tomatoes which had been growing in pots on our kitchen window sill at home.
Adrian, Heather and I celebrated Mum’s birthday by taking her for another meal at the Bird in Hand, on the longest day of the year.
Out for family birthday dinner with Mum at the @birdinhandKH. Sunshine a contrast to last year's rain.

It was the same location that we visited last year, but we’d enjoyed our evening then and decided to return.
We were given a good seat in the restaurant, albeit next to a window with warning signs attached to it proclaiming that it should not be opened as it was broken!
The food presentation and taste were very good.
For starters we all opted for the melon.
On a slightly muggy evening, the melon and strawberries were refreshingly cool and enjoyable.
For main course, Mum and I both chose the chicken.
This was also enjoyable, although a little more potato wouldn’t have gone amiss. Obviously some carrots would have been equally well received!
For pudding we all selected something different from the menu.
Mum had the Sweet & Intense Raspberry Crème Brulee; Heather plumped for the Strawberry Pavlova with Vanilla Ice Cream, Chantilly & Mixed Berries Coulis; Adrian picked the Zingy Lemon Cheesecake with Clotted Cream & Berry Coulis while I decided on the Dark Belgian Chocolate Marquise with Ice Cream. All of our choices were delicious.
As usual, much of our talk around the table was recalling events of the past and the time passed quickly and happily together.
Before we left, our waiter kindly offered to take a photo of the four of us.
Whether we’ll make it back for a third year in a row remains to be seen.
Excellent food and enjoyable evening and catch-up with the family at the @birdinhandKH.

Although we were celebrating Mum's birthday, today would also have been Grandma's 99th birthday. Still missed. x pic.twitter.com/4rixQyBraa

Around thirty people gathered on a warm, muggy day at Slough Crematorium to bid a farewell to Sarah’s nan, Rita Goom, who passed away back on 3rd June.
Sarah lost her Nan unexpectedly today. This photo, from last month, shows her teaching @HollyIBray to knit. RIP. pic.twitter.com/l7MAez4g5g

The girls had decorated a rainbow which was placed in the back of the hearse.
A mixture of family, friends and neighbours were there to hear a short service which included the music to Somewhere Over The Rainbow; various memories of Rita; the hymn Dear Lord and Father of Mankind; Bach’s Sheep may Safely Graze and concluded with Time to say goodbye.
Afterwards those at the service travelled back to Sarah’s parents’ house for some light refreshments.
Sarah’s nan hadn’t wanted many flowers at the service, but the main bouquet had been brought back from the funeral.
Sarah’s nan will be much missed by all the family.
